Playtech may be about to announce that their Marvel Mystery Progressive Jackpot network slots are due to retire over the course of the year. This week, Playtech announced that a brand new slot game known as Age of Gods will be amongst a trio of new titles to be launched this year, with the others being The Flintstones, and Tiki Paradise. However, rumour has it that the Age of Gods slot will be a direct challenge to the many superhero themed Playtech slots out there.
Marvel Mystery Progressive Jackpot Network slot games such as Spider-Man: Attack of the Green Goblin, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, and Iron Man 3 may be about to close down. It is not known if Playtech has been unable to renew the license to Marvel games, or if Marvel is simply pulling out of the industry. The rumours talk about a new Playtech slot known as Age of Gods being the catalyst for a whole new series of progressive jackpot slot games to replace them, though.
The first new slot will be known simply as Age of Gods, and it is set to be a mythological video slot, and one with four progressive jackpots to be won. Shortly after its launch, specific god themed slots will be launched in this franchise. So far, we now of Zeus, Athena, Hercules, and one known only as Furious 4 to be launched later in the year.
It will certainly be a shame to see the end of the Marvel Mystery Progressive Jackpot Network slots, and if the new Greek mythology themed slots are to take their place, one would imagine that a new progressive jackpot network would spring up. It is not known if Playtech will adapt the same strategy with their new jackpot network, or go down a new and exciting route.
If Playtech is to do away with its Marvel Mystery Progressive Jackpot Network slots over the coming year, one would expect a solid announcement confirming this to be released in the immediate future. As of now, we’ve still got nothing more than rumours alone, but strong ones at that. We will simply have to await Playtech’s response for an indication of the future of the much loved progressive jackpot slots.
